Dr. Lisa C. Kates, a Board Certified dermatologist with 12 years experience, is a graduate of Ursinus College. She has a Masters in Human Physiology from Hahnemann University and graduated with honors from Hahnemann University School of Medicine. After completing her internship at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, Dr. Kates pursued her dermatology residency at Chicago’s Cook County Hospital where she rose to the position of Director of Dermatologic Laser Surgery and Consultant Attending of Dermatologic Surgery. While there she trained numerous residents in dermatologic surgery and laser procedures.

Since then Dr. Kates has worked as a general and cosmetic dermatologist with an established Anne Arundel County practice and served as Medical Director for the Cosmetic/Laser Department at Anne Arundel Dermatology (Weems Creek, Annapolis office) from 2005 to 2009. Her special interests and areas of expertise include dermatologic surgery and laser procedures (including laser resurfacing, cosmetic procedures, soft tissue fillers and Botox injections), sclerotherapy, and the treatment of ethnic skin.

A member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Kates served on the organization’s Youth Education Committee for 4 years. She is a Fellow of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the Cosmetic Dermatology Society. As a member of the Dermatology Foundation, Dr. Kates served as Vice-Chair of the Leaders Society. In addition, she served as vice-president of the Keloid Foundation from 2002 to 2005.

Dr. Kates lives with her husband, two children, and Lightning, a greyhound mix, in Howard County, Maryland.
